WHO WILL PROTECT THE WORKERS THAT GROW & HARVEST FOOD FOR US?

A coupe of weeks ago, I told my husband, that I didn't feel well after the neighbors sprayed their yards with lawn chemicals and weed killers. (The smell of the chemicals permeated the air when we walked through the neighborhood.) In fact, I was waking up in the morning with stiffness in my hands, and my muscles felt weak.

Imagine being a farm worker out in the fields, who suddenly passes out, or who has to stop working in order to vomit due to pesticide exposure. That's what happened last week to 12 farm workers in California who caught wind of an extremely toxic pesticide known as chlorpyrifos while tending to a cabbage crop.

The National Institutes of Health has concluded that chlorpyrifos can cause “adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune effects.”

While our former president took steps to effectively ban the use of chlorpyrifos,, that changed after Trump appointed Scott Pruitt to lead the EPA.

Here's the full story, that I encourage you to check out!

This is the kind of story that makes my blood boil. It's right up there with the stories about vaccine injured children.

What is it going to take to take to stop this chemical war against humanity and the environment?

At times, I feel helpless to change the situation, knowing that "the powers that be" are working overtime to protect their financial bottom line. But I also recognize that we do have power as consumers when we grow our food organically, and when we support the organic movement.

The Organic Consumer's Association (located right here in MN., where I live) is one group that continues to work tirelessly on behalf of citizens, farm workers, and policy makers, to change this situation.

I implore you to join them in their fight (OUR COLLECTIVE FIGHT) against the use of toxic chemicals. Please go here, and learn how you can support their good work: https://www.organicconsumers.org/

I can't even imagine how much trouble we'd be in, if we did not have people like Ronnie Cummins and Rose Cummins (the co-founders of OCA) fighting for us. Let's not take their efforts for granted.

BTW: Just to be on the safe side, you may want to think twice, about eating cabbage raised on Dan Andrews farm in CA.!
